The Saluting Battery has recently been carefully restored by leading heritage trust Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna. The battery forms part of the city’s old fortifications, the building of which started in 1566, just one year after the Great Siege. It occupies one of the most strategic positions in the Grand Harbour and at noon each day, the Heritage Trust brings the site’s history alive with its firing of the midday gun display and interpretation. The line up of historic cannon can be fired upon request, adding a special touch to your event.
